Geno Zamora is the Founder of Zamora Strategic Advisors, LLC, and utilizes his extensive local and international network to build strong and successful relationships for clients working with Federal, State and local governments.
Named to New Mexico Business Weekly’s “Top 40 Under 40” list in October 2006, Geno ran for Attorney General of New Mexico in 2006 and served as Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Bill Richardson for the first two and a half years of the Governor’s administration. As a Senior Member of the Governor’s Administration, Geno provided strategic guidance for major public works projects throughout the State and worked with the Governor on public safety issues and other key issues before the House and Senate during four successful legislative sessions. Geno managed counsels general for the Governor’s executive agencies, represented the Governor before the New Mexico Supreme Court, and was the Governor’s chief liaison with the Attorney General and the State’s judiciary.
A native of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Geno currently serves as chair of the New Mexico Attorney General’s Advisory Board and board member appointed by the Governor to the New Mexico Sports Advisory Commission, the Domestic Violence Leadership Commission and the Task Force on Ethics Reform. Geno is a former member of other key policy and decision-making groups such as the Supreme Court’s Criminal Justice Task Force, the Governor’s Task Force on Equity in the Judiciary and the New Mexico Lottery Authority.
Geno previously served as Assistant Attorney General to Tom Udall (now Congressman), specializing in consumer protection and land use issues, and served as Chief Analyst for Speaker Ben Lujan and the New Mexico House of Representatives Leadership Office during the 2001 regular and special legislative sessions, providing strategic advice on legal reform and redistricting issues.
Geno has advised public and private entities such as Phelps Dodge Mining Company, Occidental Petroleum, BP Amoco, Citigroup, Intel and the Downs at Albuquerque, as well as the City of Santa Fe, City of Hobbs, Albuquerque Public Schools and Santa Fe Public Schools. In the late 1990’s, Geno joined an internet startup, industytoindustry.com, helping to develop online markets for international trade. Industrytoindustry.com was an initiative of Klaus Schwab, Founder of the World Economic Forum.
Geno, his wife Sheila and their dog Bella live in Santa Fe.
